MILANORD2 SHOPPING CENTER

The new shopping center is an always-changing unconventional area which is part of the urban settlement.
It presents one of the widest commercial offer with more than 300 shops, areas dedicated to event, a cinema and several restaurants. The development of a technological system is a whole with the overall project: the system was realized using renewable sources following the most modern technological and multimedia communication trends.
The security of operators and visitors is controlled by an oversight system The new shopping centre, now in construction, is spread on four levels for a total surface of 150.000 sqm and about 220.000 sqm of parking area which is spread over 5 intermediate levels, one of these at the groundfloor.

PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM

Detailed design of a 1.900 kWp integrated photovoltaic system, as a part of a bigger installations design for a new shopping centre in the province of Milan.
The solar panels will be installed on the roof, integrated in the glasses of the skylights of the mall and integrated in the shelters of the parking lots.
The system has been studied in order to reduce the weight on the building structures and the panels have been oriented to decrease the shaded areas.
The power plant will produce about 2.000 MWh/year of totally renewable energy and allow the commercial facility to achieve the best energy efficiency.

FIRE SAFETY

Fire prevention activities developed in the first phase with the production of the necessary documentation for the Feasibility Clearance relating to the construction of the Shopping Center and the garage in connection with the city subway station. The development of the project led to an in-depth analysis of the customers’ requests which led to the creation of a fire prevention project with exemption from the current legislation.
The aspects of exemption developed concerned the maximum area of the compartments and the overall crowding level of the Shopping Center considering
the available escape routes.
An ESF calculation was also developed to simulate the development of a fire within a sales unit and the operation of the smoke detection system and the opening of the smoke and heat evacuators.
